We got game.

As we prepare to say goodbye to 2014, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported The Bulletin/Geppo over the past year. The support shown by so many in the community is truly heartening. For my part, it is a real honour to hold this position of trust and responsibility and I value the opportunities it gives me to engage with the community.

It has been a year of change and evolution for The Bulletin/Geppo and its publisher, the Greater Vancouver Japanese Canadian Citizens’ Association. The infusion of new Board members has brought a renewed sense of energy and focus at a time when we are looking to refine and redefine our direction as an organization and a publication. Community forums have allowed us to gather valuable feedback on what we are doing right and what we could do to better serve the community.

A large part of our focus has been on the revitalization of The Geppo, the Japanese-language section that has undergone a major facelift, with new content and a modern new design. A ton of credit goes to our new co-editors Kazuho Yamamoto and Kaori Kasai (AKA Sleepless Kao) who bring a fun and cheerful approach to their work and who push me every month to up my own game. K+K, as we call them, are a great team and a great addition to our team. We are lucky to have them.

Finally . . .

On behalf of our small but mighty staff I’d like to offer season’s greetings and thanks to our donors, advertisers, volunteers, community partners and, of course, our readers. We look forward to good things in 2015.
