Chimugukuru: A Celebration of the Heart, Soul and Spirit

On March 11, 2011, a powerful earthquake hit the Tohoku region of Japan. The earthquake and resulting tsunami took a terrible toll in terms of both human lives and infastructure. The aftershocks continue to reverberate today throughout Japan and are felt most keenly by the many children left parentless by the events of that day.

The Vancouver Okinawa-ken Yuaikai, with the support of the Consulate General of Japan, presents Chimugukuru, A Celebration of the Heart, Soul and Spirit, with all proceeds going to benefit Tohoku Rainbow House, a facility planned to provide psychological care and emotional support to children who lost parents or guardians in the earthquake and tsunami. The show features Okinawan taiko group Chijinsyu Wakatiida and singers Hidekatsu and Mion, along with members of Vancouver’s taiko community. Thank you for your support!
