James Jitsuei Tsubota (of Montreal) served in World War I and had been at Vimy Ridge. He re-enlisted in World War II and was seconded to the British Army at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, England, as a Japanese instructor. Three other Nisei served there with him: Eichi Matsuyama, Fumi Yamamoto, and Peter Yamauchi. [excerpt from Fighting for Canada]

Two of the three sons of Taisuke Tanaka, who served at Vimy Ridge in the first war, served in the army during World War II. Minoru and Harry Tanaka joined the army in 1941. Harry saw action in several locations including North Arica, Sicily, Italy, Belgium and Holland. Except for periods of illness, he escaped relatively unscathed . . . His brother Minoru died in the Netherlands on 20 February 1945. He was one of two Nisei to die in the war. The other man, Leading Aircraftman Claude Winston Mawatari, was killed in a training accident. [excerpt from Fighting for Canada]
