Please join us in sharing the inspiration from Stage Earth. With his faith deeply rooted in compassion and humanitarianism, Dr. Norihiko Kuwayama, a Japanese psychiatrist, has been a very active figure for more than two decades in the field of medical and emotional relief for areas of conflict and poverty around the world.
Dr. Kuwayama’s Stage Earth is a live multi-media performance that makes use of large screen video, music and narration. He describes his experiences through photography, songs, guitar and other musical instruments. The performance brings audiences to witness the untold fortitude of men, women, and most significantly, children. It challenges us to discover the true meaning of happiness. His documentary film, Arigato no Monogatari (Traveling for Gratitude), premiered in May 2009 at Nikkei Centre. It made a strong impact on more than 400 viewers.

Us and Them (The Inquiry) is the first phase of a multi-layered, two year long project that will build into Headlines Theatre’s 30th Anniversary production, Us and Them: The Play. Us and Them explores humanity’s need to create the “other”. The first phase, The Inquiry, is a series of 21 public events held at various venues across Metro Vancouver, from October 22-November 28. At these events, audiences will experience an intimate evening of theatre without a play. No actors, no script – just an open theatrical dialogue about why and how humanity creates the other, asking questions about how we recognize there is only “us” here. Headlines’ multi-award winning Artistic Director David Diamond will be the conductor of The Inquiry, exercising the principals of the company’s very successful Theatre for Living workshops. Us the Them (The Inquiry) will be an unforgettable evening of interactive, innovative and thought-provoking theatre. Admission to all Inquiry events will be by donation.
Held at venues throughout the Lower Mainland including:
Friday November 12, Nikkei Place
