Posted on June 5, 2009 | No CommentsThe rhododendrums and the azaleas are in their blazing glory besides all the other colourful flowers. My favourite season of the year. Father’s Day is coming and our family gets... -

Honouring Our People: Stories of the Internment
Posted on June 5, 2009 | 1 CommentThis conference will pay tribute to those generations of Japanese Canadians who, despite experiencing racism, restrictions, uprooting and loss during and after WWII, demonstrated resilience and the capacity to survive and overcome. -
President’s Message

Heiwa Garden Ceremony
Posted on June 5, 2009 | No CommentsWhen it is completed, Heiwa Garden will be magnificent. It will indeed be a peaceful place where visitors will be able to read about the history of the Japanese Canadian community that once existed on Salt Spring Island and contributed so much to its wellbeing. -

Posted on June 5, 2009 | 1 Comment‘Carnivorous’ or not, the women realize that such a classification is practically meaningless in North America where it has been normal, especially since the sexual liberation of the 60s, for members of both sexes to seek partners pro-actively. -

Onomichi: Roots and Branches
Posted on June 5, 2009 | No CommentsHaving deep roots doesn’t mean one is cut one off from the many possibilities of life. Taiko: the next generation
Posted on June 5, 2009 | No Comments" . . . hearing the taiko beat here in Canada always gives me chills, goosebumps, sometimes I get tears in my eyes. It must be something that my DNA is feeling without me noticing.”
